Building a PC is easier than it looks if you make the decisions in the right order.
Set a budget and a target
Decide which games you want to play and at what resolution. That choice drives the graphics card, which is usually the biggest single cost.
Pick the graphics card and processor
Choose a graphics card that suits your target, then a processor that will not hold it back. Mid-range processors are often enough for gaming.
Check compatibility
The processor socket must match the motherboard, the memory type must match (DDR4 or DDR5), and the case must fit the graphics card length and the motherboard size.
Do not skimp on the power supply
Pick a reputable unit with enough capacity for your parts plus some headroom. A good PSU protects everything else in the system.
